Please note that there are 3 breaks during second block this year.  All students will report directly to their second block classes after first block.  Students will grab breakfast and have break with their second block class during the allotted break time. Endangered Turtles Head-start Local Conservation Program and Nipmuc Science Students

For the past 6 years Marine Science and AP Environmental Science students have head-started locally endangered turtles in our classroom through Grassroots Wildlife Conservation at Zoo New England. We usually head-start Blandings Turtles, but in 2019 we participated in a pilot program head-starting Wood Turtles.  This year, we are again participating in this project.   Please click the file below to see what head-starting turtles is all about and click the video below to see how our hard work paid off in 2020!

2020 Local Conservation Success!
Due to the school building closure and inability to have a turtle release field trip in June 2020, Grassroots Wildlife Conservation at Zoo New England made a "Turtle Release Video" for Nipmuc students.  Please click the video  below to see some of the conservationist working on this head-start project release Hydro and Halo to their new habitat.  Their large size (Hydro is the size of a typical 6 year old Wood Turtle) will reduce predation possibilities by a large margin, giving them a "head start" in life.
Nice Job 2019-2020 Marine Science and APES students on your success in this local conservation project!
